By the Creek

December 6th, 2009

On Saturday afternoon I met up with Dominic, a fellow photographer based here in Dubai, wanting to take some photographs around the Dubai Creek area. Dominic also shoots with a D300 and it was great to exchange some opinions about the camera and its replacement the D300s which I have just purchased a couple of weeks ago.

We concentrated our efforts across the NBD headquarters on the Creek and although most shots I took were of the actual NBD building, I did manage to snap the image below of a visiting yacht coming all the way from Madeira. These days, coming from Madeira to here must be a dangerous trip with all the Somali pirates hanging out around the Somali and Yemeni coast.

As for the shot, as usual, it’s a Photomatix tone-mapped image, done from 7 exposures with a 1 E.V step. I also blended back in some of the original parts of one of the exposures (particularly some of the dark wood elements).

Shot with NIKON D300S | 12mm | ƒ/8

Fadibou, this particular shot is taken with a tripod, but in some cases I also shoot just handheld.
