After landing early morning in Dubai coming from India, we slept for a bit, packed our bags and started driving towards Masirah Island in Oman. It takes 8 hours to drive to where the jetty leaves and another 2 hours by boat from there. The island is very wild and remote with just one village at one end of the island. We got there on the 29th of December planning to spend the New Year’s Eve on the beach camping. All was good in the first evening, but during the night the wind started blowing and it never stopped until the 2nd of January when we left. The wind was so strong (about 35 knots) that our tent barely made it through these nights. We spent the New Year’s Evening sitting around the fire, hiding behind the cars trying to get away from the wind. Again it was one of those trips that you never forget!
