Photo of the week – Nungwi, Zanzibar

August 24th, 2008

This week: Fishermen waiting for high tide, Nungwi, Zanzibar

I went to Zanzibar a few years ago and I was amazed by the Dhows (traditional boats) that the fishermen are using. They don’t look like much, but they are very solid and can withstand the bad storms that often Zanzibar experiences. These guys were just waiting for the high tide so they can go out fishing.

Building detail

August 23rd, 2008

Here’s one other shot from the other night when I went to take photos in Dubai Marina. This particular one is a close-up of a building I thought looked interesting. Let me know what you think.

Dubai Marina

August 21st, 2008

Today was an unusually nice summer day in Dubai with blue skies (those of you who have visited Dubai in the summer will know the usual grey, boring sky). So I took my camera and went down to Dubai Marina to try and take some photos of this brand new neighborhood that was not there 5 years ago. I am very happy with the results and I will post photos from there over the next few days.
