This weekend marked my 10 year anniversary in Dubai and as you can imagine it’s quite a big milestone. I owe a lot to this city as it has provided me with great opportunities and looking back at the last 10 years, I’ve had an amazing time here and I was able to really go after my goals. The top goal over the last 8-9 years was to turn photography into a full-time passion and since I’ve quit my day job a few years ago, I can honestly say I’ve never been more content with what I do. It took me a long time to get here, but the whole process was a classic example of “if you put your heart into it, in the end it will succeed”. This blog played a huge role in my photographic journey and I can’t wait until I will also celebrate 10 years since I had my first post.
As for the image above, I chose this one as it’s a similar view to the one I had in my first apartment in Dubai. I was living in the Greens, but unlike in this photograph, I was on the ground floor and the view towards Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT) in the distance barely had a couple of towers – in fact JLT didn’t really exist at that time.
So here’s to many more years in a city I’ve come to enjoy and love! And Ramadan Kareem to all of you who celebrate Ramadan.
