Firstly, the blog is 2 years old today, so happy birthday blog! Don’t forget about the 25% sale I’m having until the end of today on all the prints. Just click “Purchase a print”.
This will be the last photo before I leave for my 25 days trip through Nepal, Tibet, China and Russia. However, I have scheduled a few shots while I’m away and of course I’m hoping to have lots of new material when I get back on the 8th of August. Also, depending on the mobile signal, I will try and tweet at least once a day from the road. Now to today’s shot…
Last Friday I did something I don’t do very often. I woke up before sunrise to go out and take some photographs at the lagoon in Ras Al Khor, Dubai. It’s actually a very nice area that could be turned into a great nature reserve. At the moment though, there are only a few observation posts from where you can watch the flamingos that call the lagoon their home and even those only open at 9am when it’s already too hot to sit and wait for the birds! Is someone asking me how I could get in if the observation towers were closed?! Well, let me just say that it involved crawling on the ground under a fence and walking through the mud for a while! But I digress…
Some of you might remember that I also went there a couple of months ago, but the weather was terrible and I didn’t have much success. This time, it was still very hazy (that happens when at 5am it’s 35 Celsius and 70% humidity!), but at least there were a few clouds that helped the sunrise look a bit better. This particular shot was taken just before sunrise and it’s an HDR made of 5 exposures. Also, for the first time, I used the Topaz Adjust plug-in to increase the contrast levels so I would love to hear what you think about it.
