Across the creek
Today was the first day of my two day photography workshop which meant we were out and about shooting some images that we will be processing tomorrow during the second part of the workshop. The first location we went to was on the shores of the Dubai Creek, right across from Festival City. There are a couple of interesting areas to photograph there, one of them being the hotel complex formed by the Crowne Plaza and Intercontinental Hotels.
When the tide is low, there are lots of rocks that come out of the water making them an interesting foreground for a shot across the creek. However, things were not as simple as this, since today was not the best day for photography. Dubai really showed us it’s preparing for the summer and gave us a hazy day, with hardly any colour in the air. So, in order to fix things up a bit and get some colours in the sky, I went the multiple exposures way. The shot below was blended from 5 separate exposures from -2 E.V. to +2 E.V. Once the resulting image was completed, I added yet another exposure just for the water. That particular image was taken with a very strong ND filter in order to flatten out the surface of the water.
