I talked about the Jökulsárlón Lagoon in a previous post, but I didn’t tell you anything about the boat trips you can take on the lagoon. It’s a very “touristy” thing to do, but it’s also a very cool thing to do because the boats are half trucks, half boats and you actually board them while they are on the shore.
Looking at the shot below you might be thinking what I’m I talking about since this is quite a small boat. In a later post I will show you one of the bigger ones, but the one in this image is used for clearing the ice ahead of the bigger boat. This is achieved by pushing it against the icebergs and revving the engine until the iceberg starts to move. Simple, but effective!
