As I was saying in my previous post, the good weather (as in not scorching hot) is slowly coming to Dubai and with it comes the photo season. This weekend was looking really good, with nice blue skies, so I grabbed by camera and started searching for some new interesting locations to capture the continually growing skyline.
After a bit of smooth talking with some security guards I was allowed on the roof of one of the buildings in the Business Bay area with a perfect view of what looks like a huge roundabout built around the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall and The Address Hotel. I was there from late afternoon until after dark so as you can imagine I will post quite a few shots from there in the coming weeks.
In terms of post-processing, this one was a bit complicated. My 12-24mm lens was not wide enough to get the top of the Burj Khalifa together with the curved road at the bottom. So I had to shoot 2 images and blend them later in Photoshop, matching the features of the building as well as the gradient of the sky. I’ve also used Topaz Adjust to enhance some of the details in the tower.
On another note, if you have been enjoying the blog over the last year, your vote in the Photoblogs Awards 2011 would be highly appreciated. Even if you don’t vote, you should have a look at the site as there are hundreds of really cool photoblogs from all around the world.
