I have been living in Dubai for close to 6 years now and I first visited the city 10 years ago, so in a way I’ve seen a lot of its skyline grow over time. I remember one of the first pictures I’ve ever taken in Dubai (in 2001) and it was taken from a very similar location as the one below, but with a lot less buildings. I might try and find it in the next few days and maybe I can add it in the comments for a quick comparison.
This particular photograph was taken on Friday and I was waiting for a long time to get a good clear day to use this particular location as it only works when all the buildings are well defined against a nice cloudy sky. It was probably one of the last clear days before the summer comes in this part of the world and I am very happy with the results. In the coming weeks I will post 3-4 shots taken from the same place, but this one is probably my favourite.
In terms of post-production, you will notice that the original looks fairly close to the final version except for a few details. I’ve used Topas Adjust to make the clouds and buildings a bit sharper. I’ve also used a couple of curves to tone the image and increase the contrast. As always I would love to hear what you think.
