Yesterday, I had a client who asked me for a lot of landmark images of Dubai which made me look through a lot of my old images and it seems I have been shooting Dubai for quite a while! The good thing is, my photographic skills have improved and I seem to be a lot better at keeping the horizon straight nowadays! Although the image below is not really up to my more recent standards for the blog, I wanted to share it with you as I think images like these are easily forgotten nowadays with all the glitz and glamour that can be photographed in Dubai.
Although it looks like it was taken ages ago, this image is exactly 6 years old (it was taken on April 27th, 2007) and as you can see the Business Bay area was more of a plan than anything tangible and Burj Khalifa, although quite big already, it still had a lot to go. The interesting bit in this image is the Index Tower (bottom-left), which I didn’t actually realize that was already started so far back. It seems it was delayed quite a bit before it was delivered. One other thing to note is the so-called Defense Roundabout, which at that point was a simple flyover and not the spaghetti interchange we have now.
