One of the popular routes for everybody that stays in Cape Town for a few days, this can be done easily in one day. Our first stop of the day was in Hout Bay, where you can hop on a 30 minute boat trip to Duiker Island (Seal Island) where you can see a big colony of seals. Since seals are one of the favourite meals for Great White sharks, there’s always a chance of spotting one. However, this is very rare and we didn’t see any.
Next attraction on our route was the Chapman’s Peak drive which takes you high along the beautiful coastline and allows for plenty opportunities to take photos of the bays below. After that the next stop was Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point, the most south-western points of the African Continent. I snapped a quick photo of the sign that marks the spot and off we went towards Simon’s Town, famous for Boulder’s Beach and its colony of African penguins. If you can put up with the cold water you can even swim alongside the penguins…
The last stop of the day was in Muizenberg, where you can learn to surf, although it can get quite crowded in the water being such a popular spot for beginners.
