The image to the left was taken about an hour or so before this other image I posted a couple of weeks ago and for me that particular afternoon marked the beginning of the new photography season in Dubai, when the cooler temperatures set in and the skies begin to shed that awful summer haze.
Because of how close this location is to the Bur Khalifa, as I said in my previous post from there, I had to taken this shot using my tilt-shift lens, while shifting all the way up and all the way down in order to fit the whole building in the frame. Even then, I still have to do a bit of perspective correction in Photoshop to straighten up the Burj Khalifa. Another interesting detail is that when shooting this way with the tilt-shift I find that the best looking crop for the final images is 4×5 rather than 2×3. It does look a little bit too small on the site, but I am keeping that in mind for the upcoming redesign of the blog.
