If you live here, you would have seen the stormy weather we’ve been having for the past few days. If you don’t, well, we’ve been having some strong storms bringing with them cool looking clouds and lots of photo opportunities.
So this afternoon, I finally had a bit of spare time and ended up driving around looking for some new angles to shoot Dubai. I did come home with a couple of bloggable shots, but I thought I’ll start with this one as it’s the more unusual out of them all. I’ve been photographing the Burj Khalifa for quite a while now and although the standard blue hour shots of the city lights are nice, I wanted to challenge myself a bit and come up with a fresh perspective. That’s when I noticed these rails on the roof I was in. They were leading the eyes perfectly towards the Burj Khalifa and when I spotted the ladder as well I knew there might be something there.
In terms of post-processing, I really struggled to choose between the colour and the black and white version. In the end I went with the black and white because I think it helps making the foreground stronger.
