As I mentioned on Twitter, d’pr, the PR agency handling Canon here in Dubai, phoned me up a few days ago and asked me if I wanted to review the new Canon flagship, the 1d Mark IV. Smart move from their part, since most people know I shoot Nikon! So for the last few days I’ve been playing around with the new camera trying it out and trying to write a review of sorts. I’m not yet finished, but I should have something online in the next few days. I just wish Nikon Middle East were doing these sort of things as well!
To start off, the shot below was taken with the new Canon 1d Mark IV and the 16-35mm f2.8 lens. The level of detail that this gear combination captures is very impressive and although the shooting conditions were terrible I still managed to get a couple of shots that I was happy with.
The post-processing wasn’t overly complicated, with a few curves adjusting the local contrasts and a couple of selective color adjustments to bring out the colours. If you haven’t tried it yet, there is now a “Show original” button on each post so you can see how the shot looked straight out of camera.
