It has been a while since I posted any shots of the Dubai Metro and this weekend I thought I’ll go out to a location I shot from before and see what has changed over the last year. At the time I took the previous photograph, the metro was not yet operational, but now it has been running for almost a year and it makes an interesting addition to the Dubai skyline.
The photo below is taken from a bit of a different angle and the post-processing is quite different, but I’m quite happy with the way it turned out. It really made me realize that my style of post-processing has changed a lot in the last year. It’s more subtle with a lot less saturation which I think is a good thing. The bottom half of this particular image is tone-mapped in Photomatix, but with some very low settings, while the top part (particularly the sky) is brought from the original exposure.
On a related note, if you’re interested in reading a bit more about HDR (with a couple of good examples), one of my shots has been featured in this article. The post is also generating quite a lot of discussions around the HDR subject.
