As those of you living in these parts of the world (the Middle East that is!) know, over the last couple of days the Muslims have been celebrating Eid al-Adha. It’s a very important religious holiday and this year I was lucky enough to be in Esfahan (or Isfahan) in Iran witnessing the local traditions (of which I will talk about during later posts).
I returned today with lots of new images, but this is more of a quick post to wish a belated Eid Mubarak to all the Muslim readers of the blog and to share with you a late evening image of the beautiful Imam Mosque in the center of Esfahan. Unfortunately the mosque was under restoration so there is quite a bit of scaffolding visible. However, this didn’t make the structure any less imposing, dominating Esfahan’s main square.
