Just like the previous shot of an Icelandic lighthouse, this was also taken late in the evening and not too far from the previous lighthouse. There’s a beautiful path connecting these two structures that goes along the North Atlantic on top of these massive rock walls full of bird nests.
It was very late when I got to this second lighthouse and I still had another 3-4 hours of exploring ahead of me that evening so I quickly setup my tripod trying to take advantage of that beautiful orange light. As I took the shot, I turned around to have a look at the sea below and all of a sudden, in the distance, I could see three Minke whales popping their heads above water. They only came up a couple of times and I didn’t have enough time to take photographs, but it was one of those difficult moments to forget.
In terms of post-processing, I didn’t do much to this one. I corrected slightly the perspective, getting the lines of the lighthouse straight and added a couple of curves to bring out the details. I think I prefer this one to the previous shot of a lighthouse, but I would love to hear which one you like more.
