Earlier this afternoon I was passing by Jumeirah Lake Towers, one of Dubai’s new neighbourhoods and notice some strange cloud formations hanging around the buildings. It was most likely some left over fog from this morning, when Dubai was engulfed in a thick layer of mist. Seeing this, I figured I could go out and make some images and an old location which I haven’t visited in a while popped into my mind. I rushed home, got my camera, returned to my location only to find there were no clouds to be seen! The sky was as blue as it could be.
At this point I was getting a bit disappointed and was contemplating heading home without any images. But as I’m driving I noticed there was not a breath of wind outside and decided I will try some long exposure images to get some of these beautiful buildings reflected in the water. Two hours later and I had this image, with which I am very happy. It’s a fairly long exposure (two minutes), but the post-processing was really minimal. Just a couple of curves to adjust the contrast. An unusual thing for me was that I decided to go for an 8×10 crop as opposed to my usual 2×3.
