Julia
Part of my efforts to create interesting people shots in unusual Dubai locations, this photoshoot took me somewhere in the back of Al Wasl Road, in a big empty area where some interesting trees are growing straight out of the sand. Enter Julia. She is a German model based here in Dubai and she was very easy to work with, not minding going through all that sand with her high heel shoes. As for the technical details of the shots, both of them were done with 2 SB800s flashes, one shot through an umbrella at camera left very close to the model and one shot bare quite a lot further from Julia at camera right and slightly behind her. Both flashes were gelled with a 1/4 CTO and 1/2 CTO gels respectively for that extra warmth on the skin and in the hair. For the shot on the right, I also had the White Balance set to Fluorescent for the sky so I get that nice rich blue.
