Karim Khani Citadel, Shiraz

Moving on from the glitz and glamour of Dubai, it’s time for a bit of history…

While in Shiraz last month, we visited the former residential palace of Karim Khan-e-Zand and his dynasty. The citadel is an impressive site with four towers guarding every corner and a beautiful garden providing shade over the inner paths. Currently, in some of the rooms of the citadel there is an interesting photography exhibition depicting life in Shiraz in the 19th century and at beginning of the 20th century.
