I have been meaning to post this photograph for a while, but I could never remember the actual name of the glacier. However, I just remembered that I marked down the name in my GPS and sure enough after looking through my waypoints it was there.
It’s called the Kharola Glacier and it lies about 200km west of the capital of Tibet, Lhasa. It’s very difficult to judge the scale of things in this shot, but the base of where I took the photo is at about 4,500m while the top of the glacier is at about 5,300m. All the animals you can see in the valley are Yaks and a lot of them were used as a tourist attraction in case you really needed to have a photo riding a yak.
