This is a panorama I took in the summer while traveling from Kathmandu to Beijing over land. The view is from the top of the Lablung-La Pass, a pass that reaches 5050m at its highest point and where every move you make reminds you that there’s not that much air this high up.
Lablung-La Pass is about 4 hours from Nyalam, the first town after the Nepal-Tibet border at 3800m. In contrast with Nepal, after Nyalam the land becomes quite barren, but the feeling of open space is incredible. There are mountains everywhere you look, which makes you realise how small you are in the midst of all this.
