Although Antarctica was a fairly short trip in terms of actual time on the ground, from a photographic point of view it’s a great undertaking as the photo opportunities (particularly for landscapes) are present at every corner.
Although my main aim while there was to photograph the stunning icy landscapes, you cannot go to Antarctica without coming back with at least a few penguin images as they are an integral part of the landscape (and extremely cute). Most days I carried around on my shoulder my backup camera with a long and fairly light lens attached to it (70-300mm). This allowed me to take photographs of the penguins whenever I noticed something interesting happening.
As you probably know, penguins are very loyal and they really stick with each other in a couple, helping out with nest duties and this sight was a very common one throughout all the penguin colonies we visited.
