The Empty Quarter desert is probably one of the most awe-inspiring places I have ever visited and I always love going back there, whether it’s for photography or simply to relax.
Just before Christmas I was there for a couple of days, photographing some of the beautiful landscapes and watching the sun rising from the dunes. I got quite a few shots I liked (you might have seen this one already) and the image below is one of them. Sometimes, when you’re photographing these massive dunes, it’s very difficult to give a sense of scale, so I was very happy when I spotted this 4×4 driving through the salt-flats as it was the perfect man-made object to place against the dunes to see how big they really are.
The light was also very beautiful and if you roll-over the image, you’ll notice I haven’t done much to this one in post.
