The Musandam Peninsula is also known as the Norway of Arabia because the landscape looks similar to the fjords in Norway. It is situated north of the United Arab Emirates at the Straight of Hormuz only 50 km away from Iran. Musandam belongs to Oman and is easily accessible by car from UAE. Khassab is the main town in Musandam and from here you can rent dhows (traditional boats) that will take you through the fjords for a chance to spot some dolphins and maybe do some snorkeling. If you are a diver, the underwater world here is amazing and you will see most tropical fish that can be seen anywhere in the Indian Ocean, along with turtles and sharks.
