Opera at the Mariinsky Theatre
Opera is not really my thing, but in St.Petersburg in Russia is one of the must-do activities. World-class opera and ballet productions are running almost every night at the multitude of theatres around town and one of the best theatres to go to is the famous Mariinsky Theatre. Founded in 1783, the theatre was named after Maria, the wife of tsar Alexander II. The interior is really impressive and worth a look even if you do not enjoy opera or ballet. We watched Jenůfa, a Czech opera that had its world premiere in 1904 and I must say, for an opera novice like me, it was quite entertaining.
As for this particular shot, it’s an HDR made out of 5 exposures, with parts of the second darkest exposure blended back in on top of the tone-mapped image.
