This week: Kitesurfing competition in Mirfa, Abu Dhabi, UAE
As I mentioned on twittera couple of days ago, this weekend I went to Mirfa (a small town between Abu Dhabi and the Saudi border) for the 1st edition of the Al Gharbia Watersports Festival. There were a couple of surf ski races (20km and 10km) and kitesurfing competitions, all with some good prize money. The weather wasn’t great, with a hot and dry southerly wind blowing from the desert, but it was an interesting couple of days. The festival actually runs for 9 days so if you’re into watersports you can still catch it this week and the coming weekend.
As for this particular shot, it’s probably not my best shot ever, but the weather was not the best for photography. However, I quite like the action in it with one of the kitesurfing competitors doing a stylish board-grab, as a local watches.
