During the two weeks I spent driving through Romania this summer, I visited some of the places I had never been before while living there – mostly in the North of the country.
One of the places I was really looking forward to seeing was Maramures, a beautiful region close to the border with Ukraine. Many of the villages here are almost unchanged for hundreds of years and driving through them feels like you’ve gone back in time – people wearing traditional clothes, centuries old wooden churches and beautiful rolling hills stretching into the distance.
