In my previous post, I briefly mentioned the Sameba Monastery (also known as Gergeti Trinity Church). The monastery is dramatically placed on top of a cliff in the Kazbegi area of Georgia and is probably one of the most spectacular sights I’ve seen. It was built around the 14th century and it’s a popular starting point for many of the hikes in the region.
Particularly from a bit further away, the monastery provides for some great photographic opportunities. I wasn’t planning on using my 70-200mm too much on this trip, but in this particular place it really came in handy to isolate the structure from the mountains in the background.
