It’s getting close to a year since I went all the way to the other side of the world to board a boat to Antarctica and the trip is still fresh in my mind. I have recently started having a second look through my images from there seeing if I might have missed something. I always do this with all my travels, having a first selection as soon as I get back and then going through them again some months later when I’ve had more time to think about the experience.
I took the image below on a beautifully crisp day, while lazily moving between icebergs close to the Port Lockroy British base, which houses the only official post office in the whole of Antarctica. Although the bay was completely blocked by icebergs and we didn’t make a landing on that particular day, it was a great day for photographs as the sea was very calm and the surrounding mountains were clearly visible.
