This week is probably one of the last weeks in Dubai that has good enough weather for shooting before the summer kicks in and creates that annoying haze that all of us photographers have come to despise here in Dubai. So in order to get a few more shots in before it’s not possible anymore, last night I went for a walk around the Palm Jumeirah looking for some new angles or some new twists to old angles.
A couple of days ago, I noticed this massive boat anchored off the Palm and I thought of a shot that would show the glitz and glamour of Dubai, all in one. I parked my car and walked back a couple of hundred meters until I came upon the view below. It does not get anymore Dubai than this! I did take a shot of a very similar view in 2010, but I think I like this one better.
In one panorama (from left to right) we’ve got one of the huge boats that call Dubai home, the luxurious Burj Al Arab Hotel, the Jumeirah Beach Hotel and then in the distance, the Business Bay neighborhood with the tallest building in the world at its centre.
The post processing was fairly simple. It’s a panorama made out of three images, stitched in Photoshop and then corrected with a couple of curves to adjust the contrast and bring out some of the details in the buildings.
