After almost a week of cloudy and rainy days, yesterday, the sun final came out and as it happened I did 20km of walking around Kiev, photographing a lot of the beautiful buildings in the city. I came away with quite a few images I like, fairly touristic, but still interesting from an architectural point of view.
The first one I decided to post is this photograph of the St. Volodymyr’s Cathedral, one of the two major Ukrainian Orthodox churches in Kiev.Although not as old as St. Sofia Cathedral, just like most churches in Kiev, it’s a beautiful structure, full of history. During the Soviet times, it was close to being demolished, but in the end it escaped and was closed for quite a few years.
