Tonight will mark my 4th participation in GulfPhotoPlus’ Slidefest a fun evening of photography, where photographers share some of their personal photo projects with an audience that has been growing strong from event to event. The first Slidefest was held in a small room in Knowledge Village and at the time I showed my series of Tibetan images. It then moved to a bigger venue in the Knowledge Village Auditorium where I’ve showed series from Iceland and Madagascar.
Tonight, it’s Antarctica’s turn and I’m really excited to share a few of my images from this amazing trip to a faraway land. To preview the series I wanted to post this image taken during my first landing in Antarctica on Petermann Island. It’s one of the penguin images that I really like and mostly because it’s not your typical close-up shot of a cute penguin waking funny across the snow. In Antarctica penguins are everywhere and it’s very easy to keep shooting great close-up images of them without providing much context to the image, without informing the viewer what their environment is like. I hope to see you tonight at Slidefest (7pm, Knowledge Village Auditorium) and hopefully answer some of your questions about this beautiful place. Or about my upcoming travel adventure and workshop in Madagascar this summer. 😉
