This weekend I was shooting the Maqta Bridge in Abu Dhabi for a client of mine and I got there a bit too early. I was a bit worried about taking photos around this place as I remembered reading about an amateur photographer who got arrested here a few months ago because he was taking pictures of the Zayed Bridge, close to Mina Zayed, which includes military facilities. So I tried to stay away from the port side as much as possible, making it really obvious that I’m just taking photos of the Maqta Bridge.
I was supposed to photograph the bridge during twilight when the lights were already on, so while waiting for the sun to go down I went around looking for some interesting locations. I found this nice spot looking towards the Sheikh Zayed Mosque and this fisherman’s silhouette against the setting sun caught my attention.
