While putting together some of my iceberg images for a series I’m working on, I came across this image which I thought I had already blogged long time ago as it’s one of my favourite images I made in Antarctica. I guess that’s what happens when you run a blog for close to 8 years – you start to forget some of the stuff you’ve blogged.
The photograph was taken during my first evening on the boat in Antarctica, having just spent 2 days crossing the infamous Beagle Channel. It was already close to midnight and I was still being mesmerized by the landscape in front of me. The icebergs were floating peacefully in this bay and in the distance the setting sun was setting the sky on fire. I don’t remember noticing when I pressed the shutter button that this particular iceberg looked like some sort of ice mummy, but I noticed it straight away on the computer screen later that evening.
