First of all I would like to say a big thank you to all of you who came down at Slidefest. It was a great turn out and a really fun photographic evening. For those of you who missed it, I just wanted to share one of the images I showed part of the Antarctic series.
As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, penguins seem to be everywhere in Antarctica and it’s almost impossible not to see them during each landing. On our first landing on Petermann Island I spent quite a bit of time watching them, figuring out what would be the best way to photograph them. So I sat down on the ice, watching this particular path that seemed to be heavily used on their way to and from the water. It didn’t take too long for three of them to return from the ocean and begin to make their way to their nest to reunite with the group.
I almost wish I would have taken a video of this scene as they were so funny walking across the ice, wobbling their small wings and falling down from time to time. But I’m happy I managed to at least get the shot!
