Tibetan monks
Tomorrow (Wednesday, October 14) , part of the SlideFest, I will be showing some of my photographs from Tibet and trying to give the audience a little glimpse into Tibetan life. The event will take place at the GulfPhotoPlus studio in Knowledge Village, Dubai and the seats are limited. If you’re interested in an evening of photography where a few Dubai based photographers will be showing their personal work please RSVP to [email protected].
As for the two shots below, they were taken at the Pelkhor Chode Monastery. There were about 30 monks, sitting in the courtyard making candles out of yak butter which seems to be used for just about anything in Tibet. These candles are then burnt inside the monastery. Yak butter is also used to make one of the most common drinks in Tibet, the yak butter tea, which I must say, is an acquired taste.
