UAE National Day
Today it’s the 42nd birthday of the United Arab Emirates and when you’re living here, it’s hard not to notice this, as most shops, malls and cars get dressed up for the occasion with flags, lights and other colourful things.. I’m not one for much patriotism, but it’s always nice to see how so many people from all over the world get involved in the celebrations here. And although most expats here will moan and complain about this or the other, UAE has been very kind in many ways to all of us. Personally, I’ve lived here now for more than 8 years and I can definitely call this home by now. It’s been a great place to be in and I’ve watched it grow and mature from the first time I visited in 2001, up until now, almost 13 years later.
So this one (photographed at sunrise this morning) is for the United Arab Emirates. Happy Birthday!
