Although I haven’t posted model images for quite a while now, those of you who have been following the blog for a while, will know that from time to time I go on shoots to experiment with off-camera lights in order to improve my artificially lit portrait photography skills. The best way to experiment with lights is usually to collaborate with models that are in need of new portfolio images. This way, you get to play with different light setups and the model is fairly patient as she or he gets free images.
For this particular image, Karin, a Dubai based model and I traveled to Hatta as I’ve had that place in my mind for a long time to use it as a backdrop for a model shoot. It was a fairly productive afternoon of shooting, but unfortunately I only got around to post only one image from there. Now, I finally had some time to process another image and I ended up liking how it turned out. It was shot in the tiniest water pool, close to Hatta and Karin was very kind to wait there for a long time while I got the lights just right (one SB-800 shot through an umbrella).
