Vidra Lake
As I was saying in this previous post, last month, while in Romania, I got the chance to drive on Romania’s new highest road crossing the Parang Mountains. Once you cross the mountains, you have a few options where to go and we carried on to Vidra Lake, an artificial lake sitting behind a fairly large dam.
The area is incredibly beautiful and surprisingly under-developed. A few years ago there used to be a big hotel here (this is where I took the photograph below), which now is closed and is slowly crumbling away. I couldn’t find an exact reason why the hotel closed down, but it’s a real shame to see that in a region with many financial difficulties, tourism is not being taken as a serious alternative.
