Reykjavik is a great little town and although it’s the capital of Iceland, it doesn’t feel like a capital city. There’s no chaotic traffic, no smog and in general everything is very laid back. One thing you notice as soon as you arrive is that it’s a very artistically inclined place. As you walk through Reykjavik, you come across lots of art galleries, displaying great work by local artists.
One of the more prominent art pieces in Reykjavik is the viking boat sculpture below titled “Sólfar: The Sun Voyager”. It was designed by Jón Gunnar Ãrnason (1931 – 1989) and it’s probably the one art piece in Iceland that every tourist will see as it’s hard to miss.
