There are few places in the world nowadays that remain unexplored or unknown and most time I bring up Socotra into a conversation with people who don’t live in the Middle East I get the answer “Where?!?”.
Belonging to Yemen, Socotra Island is one of those places that has managed to stay fairly hidden despite its incredible beauty. Sometimes described as the Madagascar of the Middle East, it’s a place with a lot of endemic flora which evolved in slightly different ways than it did in Africa or the Middle East.
I have posted a few images from Socotra before, but I think I still have quite a few “bloggable” ones and I will start with this wild landscape from one of the island’s many beaches.
