This has been a long time coming and I’m really happy to be finally in a position to put together a group workshop for all of you who have been asking about post-production workshops and didn’t want to spend the money on a one-on-one class. I’m going to start small with a class of maximum 7 people, over a two day period on the 20th and 21st of April, doing a half day shoot in two separate locations in Dubai in the first day (Friday), while focusing on the post-production during the second half day (Saturday) in a conference room.
During the first day (from 14:00 to 19:00) we will be heading to two locations (see below) that provide both a great opportunity to photograph some of the Dubai skyline as well as presenting some typical Dubai photographic challenges. Here we will experiment with different ways of shooting the skyline, as well as trying new things like photographing water reflections while addressing any questions you might have about angles, exposures, apertures and the rest.
The second day (from 9:00 to 13:00) will be spent in front of the computer focusing on post-production techniques working on the images shot the previous day learning about some of the most powerful Photoshop tools available to photographers. We will discuss the histogram, adjustment layers, curves and masking techniques and how to use all these tools to enhance your images while preserving the original file qualities. Coffee, tea and light snacks will also be on hand to help focus the mind!
This workshop is aimed at confident beginners or intermediate photographers who own a DSLR camera and are looking to learn more about post-production and shooting with post-production in mind. Because this will be the first group workshop I’m doing, the cost will be only AED880 per person and will include the transportation to and from the two locations as well as the conference room with a projector and light snacks.
If you are interested in booking a place, please leave a comment, drop me an email (info[at]momentaryawe.com) or give me a call at 050 4524149.
I will leave you with a couple of images talking about the locations we will be shooting at, as well as an example of an image before and after some Photoshop magic.
The first location provides a cool back-drop to the Dubai Creek, with the Business Bay bridge just a throw away:
The second location will be a perfect sunset and early evening place to shoot the skyline:
The image below is just an example of how a fairly average image (in terms of light) can be turned into a captivating scene with the use of Photoshop. For more examples you can just browse through the blog rolling over each image to see the original file.
