Walking around along the Dubai Creek is always an interesting experience as you never know what you’re going to come across to photograph. As I mentioned in a previous post, last week I spent an afternoon wandering the streets of old Dubai, playing with the Nikon D4s I have on loan from Nikon Middle East.
At some point in my walk, I ended up climbing in one of the dhows loading up with merchandise for Iran and as always the boat crew were very friendly, happy to pose for a picture or two. These guys work long days on the creek, carrying hundreds of boxes every day and preparing the boats for the short trip to Iran or for longer trips to India or Sri Lanka. Most of the shots I took were not that great, but I did come away with the one below, which I’m quite happy with. My only problem with it was that the background was very busy and that’s why I decided to convert it to black and white to slightly minimize the background distractions.
