This shot was taken at about the same time as this previous one I posted and I think it does a good job showing the chaos of activity that happens everyday along the creek in Dubai. I probably prefer this image to the previous one as I think the portrait orientation works better in this case.
It also shows layers of a city that’s been growing at a breakneck speed, with the foreground being occupied by dhows doing what they’ve done for hundreds of years – trading goods from the Arabian Peninsula to Iran, India and beyond. Then, in the middle of the image you have Bur Dubai, with the textile souq and the historic district of Bastakiya. All the way to the back, the new city is slightly visible with the tallest building in the world just peeking from behind the buildings.
