I am continuing to catch-up with posting images that I haven’t shared until now and today it’s time for some more from the Azores. We visited the Azores (an archipelago in the middle of the Atlantic, belonging to Portugal) last year during the summer and it was definitely one of those places I would like to return to. At the time it was also a welcome respite of the heatwave that was happening in Lisbon. We visited a few of the islands in the Azores and one of the favourites was definitely Faial which was one of the more relaxed places with a slower pace.
Most of the islands have some sort of caldera(s) and the Faial one is very impressive – it opens up in front of you after you pass through a tunnel dug into the side of the mountain. There are also a couple of hikes you can do around the rim which unfortunately we did not have time to do. I think I actually shared this photograph last year on Instagram, but I never posted it on the blog which is always a better place to see the images a bit larger.
