The beauty of traveling and photographing all these amazing places around the world is that you get to see nature at its best (and sometimes at its worst). Nature always has its way of showing who was here first and this was exactly the case with these couple of houses I spotted in Hout Bay in South Africa.
Hout Bay is a beautiful coastal town, very popular for boat trips to Duiker Island, an island full of seals, which I visited back in 2008. It’s also a place that from what I can gather from reading online has changed quite a lot over the last 50 years. It seems that when Hout Bay started growing and being developed, the city ended up destroying most of the natural sand dunes that were protecting the bay. If you’ve got a bit of time, the article is an interesting read.
In terms of post-processing, I went with black and white with this one as I thought the colours were slightly distracting when looking at the house.
