When you visit Uzbekistan (and the central Asian region that was part of the Silk Route), one thing you will notice a lot are the architectural details in all the mosques and madrasas. They are incredibly intricate and arches are an ever present feature. It’s not easy to photograph in most places as there are a lot of distractions at the ground level so when I managed to get on the first floor of one of the madrasas in the Registan Square in Samarkand, I was super happy to have a longer lens with me to be able to isolate some details on the opposite side of the building.
