One of the things I talk very often about when I teach interior and architectural photography workshops is the importance of compressing the scene in certain situations. Photographing interiors or architecture doesn’t always mean you have to use your widest lens – sometimes less is really more and isolating certain parts of the scene with a long lens can make for a stronger photograph.
This was the case with this photograph I made in the Dubai International Financial Centre a couple of months ago. I used my 70-200mm lens at 200mm to compress the scene and make the building shapes blend into each other.
