A Dragon’s Blood tree on Socotra Island

I have shown you the forest and now it’s time to focus on one tree. It’s funny how sometimes my most favourite photographs are not necessarily the ones I looked for or waited for, but the ones made during a fleeting moment of good light.

We were on a fairly long drive in Socotra Island towards our camping spot for the night and we decided to take a quick break on the side of the road. One minute later, I was climbing on some rocks to get to this vantage point which I feel really shows the beauty of this island. Gorgeous mountains in the background and windy roads flanked by these amazing trees. What else can you ask for?
